Snapping doesn't use the increments set in the Unity editor

Leo 2 months ago updated 2 months ago 4

Hi,

I noticed that no matter what snapping increments are set in Unity, UMotion uses 1 meter and 15 degrees for snapping. Those numbers are really big and make snapping pretty useless for me, so I've just avoided snapping so far even though having it would be really convenient. I haven't found anywhere else to set it so far, so I think this is by design, but is there any chance that snapping could use the same increments as set in the editor?

Thanks

Hi Leo,
thank you very much for your support request. What are you animating, that snapping is relevant?

Currently snapping invervals are fixed in Umotion.

Peter

Hi,

For me snapping would be useful for rotating single bones like the hips during a walk cycle. Since we can't copy their pose to the other side, it's the only way I can think of to quickly make sure that the rotation of the hips is pretty equal from side to side without having to eyeball it or check the inspector. I would love to just be able to flip the pose, but I think someone already requested that feature before.

Thanks,

Leo

Thanks for the explanation. I took note of your use case and put your idea on my internal collection of ideas for the future.

As a workaround, you could use the curves view (if the rotation mode for the hips is set to "euler interpolation" to have precise control over the rotation amount). But I get your point that snapping in the (for your situation) correct interval would be faster.

Best regards,
Peter

Ah, that's a good point. I just tried it out and it works well, but for the sake of time it probably makes the most sense for me to just eyeball everything atm. Thanks for taking it into consideration!
