Quick question about the product
Hello, just a question I’m currently modeling 3d character and just wanted to ask if i wanted to create animation for a fps, can i still use a full body of my work? Or do i need to slice the 2arms? Because i wanted to work on a FPS but can see a full body of that character, or probably in the future a third person for update purposes.
Answer
Hi,
thank you very much for your support request.
UMotion doesn't have any limits in this regards, you can animate any type of 3D model/character. So if you want to animate a full body, you can do that with UMotion.
Please let me know in case you have any follow-up questions.
Best regards,
Peter
With UMotion you create regular animation files (*.anim or *.fbx). You can use them in Unity's animator component like any other animation.
Scripting (visual scripting or text based code) might be necessary for your game to interact with Unity's animator component. This depends on your game and is independent of if you used UMotion to create the animations.
Let me know if there is anything else you want to know.
Best regards,
Peter
do you happen to have tutorials when implementing fps scripting by any chance? also, is there any guides on how to achieve a fps where you can see the bottom of the legs? because i was hoping to animate everything from idle to walk and stuff. thanks also for responding
UMotion is solely an animation editor meaning that with it you create actual animation files. How to use those files in your game is up to you and is not covered by UMotion anymore (as this is general Unity stuff). If you want to learn more about how to use animations in Unity or want to learn more about scripting, please consult the Unity manual or search for related Unity video tutorials.

hello again, i was wondering before importing any models do i need to do some prerequisite in order to work with this product? Because i notice on your video there was a few folders ahead when making the gun a child of the camera, then to the left/right hand. Do i need to do some rigging or adding bones to this first before using it?
If a 3D model has no bones, you can only animate the position/rotations of all the transforms that are in it's hierarchy. For a gun for example, if all the different parts are separated (i.e. every part has it's own transform) that's usually enough for animating. For a 3d model that deforms (like an arm, a whole character etc.) the model needs to have bones in order for it to be "animatable". Such deforming bones have to be created in a 3d modeling software.

thanks again for the reply was able to do what you mentioned and it work great, I’m just wondering what if i purchase some animation on the asset store let’s say mocap, how do i apply those animation to umotion pro?
You would need to make sure that the mocap animations are configured as humanoid and the character you want to animate is also configured as humanoid. Create a new UMotion project of type humanoid. Assign your character to the pose editor and then import the mocap animations.
Please let me know in case you have any follow-up questions.

do you happen to have more tutorials on how to work with 3rd person animation? 🤔 are the ones in UE4 marketplace allowed to be used with umotion pro?
How to use UMotion doesn't really depend on the type of animation you are working with. So the available tutorials aim to teach you the general skills that can then be applied to any type of animation. Here is an overview of all available video tutorials: https://www.soxware.com/umotion-manual/VideoTutorials.html
The "In-Practice" chapter has some videos working with animations that might be used from a 3rd person perspective.
are the ones in UE4 marketplace allowed to be used with umotion pro?
Technically speaking, as long as you can import an animation in Unity it can also be imported/edited by UMotion. You should consult the UE4 marketplace license agreement to see if it is allowed to use purchased animations in Unity.

Peter
