Hello!

I just installed UMotion and went through creating my first clip. First worry was the bones applied, which look like this:

That big mess in the middle is the chest bone, which appears to be showing a bone for every other bone that uses it as an offset parent. Same thing happens to the hand/hips/root. I can survive this by shrinking their size but it would be great if you knew how to fix it.

Second problem: upon export the animation won't play on the model, or similar models.

  • Animation type is generic, same as the import settings on the rig
  • The only thing it will impact is the parent objects position and angle
  • The clip looks normal in the inspector, and when opened in the anim tab

I hope you know what's going on and have a fix, because I really think this is a great asset and it could be a massive help to me :)

Thanks!

Shaun

Hi MegaTiny,
thank you very much for your support request.

First worry was the bones applied, which look like this:

By default, UMotion just displays all the bones that are configured for that model. Using a project of type humanoid usually results in a cleaner look as only the bones used for the humanoid rig are displayed by default.

Anyway, in Config Mode you have great control over the way the bones of your rig are displayed. You can show/hide bones and even decide if they should be included in the exported animation clip. It's also possible to decide how the link to the parent bone is visualized (e.g. as a dotted line). In this video tutorial you learn all about the config mode: Lesson 5 - Config Mode

Please make sure to also check out the other video tutorials. They can be found by clicking on "Help --> Video Tutorials" (in the Clip Editor).

Second problem: upon export the animation won't play on the model, or similar models.

  • Animation type is generic, same as the import settings on the rig
  • The only thing it will impact is the parent objects position and angle
  • The clip looks normal in the inspector, and when opened in the anim tab

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. Does your animation only animate the top-most GameObject (= the position and rotation of your character)? Therefore you might want to take a look at root motion: Lesson 7 - Root Motion

If that's not explaining your issue, could you send me a video/gif or maybe just a small project that I can use to reproduce this issue? You can send me the project via the email support form.

Best regards,
Peter
