Hi there. Thinking about purchasing this to speed up development. Looks extremely handy. But I'm wondering: Can a character that already has a skeleton be adapted for use with UMotion Pro? I don't want to have to re-rig the characters as they already have a bunch of animations for them, I just want to be able to use UMotion to adapt their skeletons to a UMotion rig and create new animations for the same characters (while preserving the old ones).

Is UMotion capable of this? Thanks in advance.

Hi Chell,
thank you very much for your interest in UMotion Pro.

With UMotion Pro you can animate models that have an existing skeleton or if you want to animate rigid objects (like weapons), you can simply animate transforms directly. While it's possible to create new bones in UMotion, skinning (i.e. binding mesh vertices to the bones) is not supported and has to be done in a 3rd party modeling application. Skinning is not supported as it wouldn't offer any benefit when done inside a game engine (because skinning doesn't interact with the game/scene in any way as opposed to animations). For automatic character skinning we recommend using the free autodesk service Mixamo.
